View is full most days by 9:45 with a lineup outside blocking the lane back to Blanshard
We just can't have lineups for parking. I had a bag full of money that I was unable to spend DOWNTOWN today.
I looked a bike at MEC...just looked.

Hopefully it was a reusable bag, because if it was a single use grocery bag, your money wouldn't be welcome in town.

What are you saying? Victoria wants to greater transportation options to welcome everyone. You need to walk or bike. Victoria wants you .....except they can only tolerate so many single occupancy vehicle. I too am one of "those"...the "undesirables". Victoria doesn't want our dirty money.....unless they can extract our property taxes though amalgamation. Still....even then, don't come downtown in our dirty cars......

So here we have Balmoral Rd., on the edge of downtown. The street is so wide, that it allows for angle parking, on both sides of the road, but on Sunday only. You know, when parking demand is high (like it is every M-F downtown).
Why not put in real angle parking, at least on one side, and meter it?

God works in mysterious ways (and he hates to parallel park).

Victoria's courtesy parking ticket made the front page of Reddit this morning. People from all over the world are gushing about what a great idea this is and how wonderful Victoria must be.

Yeah, I think that's alright, but to override a spot that's been reserved by someone? That's not very nice.

Parking is FREE today, btw.
@the post, but isn't it a different colour when it's reserved?

the way it used to work for Mayor and Council was they would have a parking pass on their car and they could park anywhere for free as long as they were legally parked, ie meter, etc. I think its fair given that many have to attend council meetings, events, etc as reps for the City.
However, I don't think its ok to park in a pre-reserved space. Also curious, how do you pre-reserve a parking space? I know you can bag a meter for the day for $20/day + GST

Yes the meter was hooded. The commercial parking permit covers a specified block, not a specific meter. I had left the spot to pick up materials and upon return found it taken. The parking ambassador actually did ticket then for that one! I could have moved my hood to another spot if there had been one
