Something else to keep in mind with bussing is it's only every second 2 (they got rid of 2A signifier for some reason) that goes to Willows. This means essentially it's one bus every half hour (unless you don't mind walking a bit which also adds 11 and 8) so if multiple families are bussing from wherever to Willows and bringing all their toys (or even just strollers if they have young enough kids) the bus fills up a lot quicker. Especially the front section so potentially someone in a wheelchair the lives near Willows will get passed by because all these families that may have driven are now on the bus. I think bus is only a good suggestion in this instant for non families like some 13 year olds hanging out on the beach with their friends and only bringing some snacks in a backpack or whatever.

but now they have more room to social distance when they get there which is important for the vulnerableThere is a LONG set of stairs from Cattle Point. So your basically saying too bad to folks with kids in strollers or with mobility issues. Same thing with your 10 minute walk.

I actually managed to park at the regular lot at willows and there are a number of streets. Handicapped spots were available and this was at the height of the long weekend.
But if you are concerned drive up to island view or Elk lake. Both great beaches.

I found parking within a slow two minute walk both Friday and Sat. Short of parking on the beach I am not sure how much closer I could get. Number of Handicap spots left open which was good.
My dad's beach experience was a hell of a lot worse so I am not sure we should complain.

Ironclad will be providing parking at a ratio of 1.1:1 for its project on Tillicum on Obed. They say usage is as low as 0.75:1, but they are taking a practical approach in order to not exacerbate on-street parking issues in the neighbourhood.

^ $1,000 for a yearly permit to park your ICE car built later than 2022 on public property. Less than $3/day, still cheaper than a parkade or meter.
no long-term (over 1 or 2 hours) parking should be free on streets. just as long as yo make the payment easy for anyone.

You still pay the meters, the $1,000 is for residential owners to get their permit.

I'm not bothered with the concept of paying a yearly parking fee for street parking, what concerns me is what they do with that money and the dark hole of pet projects it will support....far better to use it to fund better transit over bike lanes as transit is far more equitable compared to bike lanes
These changes and more such as the congestion charge are going to impact lower income earners as well as local businesses

Doesn't help affordability adding $80 a month to everyone's 'rent'.

You mean for those with a gas guzzling monster ... Not sure about this one yet, policy-wise.

Not everyone has a driveway. Tenants often have to park on the street. $1,000/yr is a big burden for lots of people.

Newer cars are generally more fuel efficient than older ones.
On an unrelated note, I took a walk downtown on the weekend and you were right ISMO, about 50 spaces are occupied by patios. A number of the spaces being used were not parking stalls previously so the number appeared higher then it actually is.
