Hey,

We have started to move the streetcar models to the site. The first two (the smaller ones) will be there inside the new building. The other two larger ones won't be inside until probably later in the month or early October. But its a start.

This is part of the Threshing weekend hosted by The Saanich Historical Artifacts Society in Central Saanich. Its this weekend, both days I think from 9am to 4pm.

I will be there on Saturday from about 1pm to 4pm helping to man the family display.

Hope to see you there.

Here is the link to the society-

By donation, plus gate charges when a paid event is on.

I've been trying to check this out for years but it's always closed or the trains aren't running.  Hopefully now I can figure it out.

Heritage Acres is a gem hidden in plain sight.

Thousands of cars whiz past the tidy property and rows of antique farm and industrial equipment along the Pat Bay Highway every day — and yet few venture inside to take a trip through more than a century of history on Vancouver Island.

“I hear it a lot … people see it, but they’ve never been here,” said David Hopkins, vice-president of the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society, which operates Heritage Acres.

“It’s a pretty special place where we’ve preserved a lot of things that would have otherwise been thrown away or tossed in a scrap heap.”

Great little place. The train rides became very expensive recently, which is too bad.
But otherwise it’s the kind of place that you just know is gonna get shut down in 10 years and we’ll never have anything like it again. Kids can climb and interact with many machines. All volunteer run.

Had our wedding ceremony here, little chapel in the woods almost 22 years ago. Beauty little spot!
