No old buildings with windows on the property line are fair game for the most part.

Visit my blog at: https://www.sidewalkingvictoria.com

It has a whole new look!

^^ No problem, I was just confused. I am not sure when, but that old building with the windows was built one hell of a long time ago.

It was probably on the edge of town at the time and looked out onto farmland. :)

Does anyone know what is happening with the Fairfield Rise? I drove past this afternoon and it looks unchanged.

I googled and found several videos posted on youtube by the developer. They should have disabled comments, though...

They want higher than the falls per square foot prices for a hideous wood frame, no one's buying and I think the one that sold must feel extremely stupid.

I'm surprised that the developer doesn't just cut his losses and offer them up for what they're really worth.

The website for the development appears to be defunct. I imagine that one buyer must feel odd living in a mostly-empty building; perhaps he or she paid cash as the property likely appraised for well under asking price (possibly by 200k or more).

You're right - I think it would be weird living in an empty building like that. Although no noisy neighbours to tick you off.

I don't believe anyone lives there. I'm guessing the one unit that sold, actually did not close.

I would have thought the new owners of the building would have done something with it by now, though.

Did the building owner change after it was built?

Remember back when D. Peleshaty was removed from the project?

I guess he has filed a lawsuit against the CBC for the news story:

I drove past on the weekend and noticed that the "Fairfield Rise" sign had been taken down. No other signs of activity, though.

It's been a year, so maybe it is time to change the status on this project from "Completed" to "In Limbo".

The building has its occupancy permit, does it not?

Know it all.

The suites just got relisted with Brown Bros; prices approx 310,000 - 499,000. The most expensive suite is MLS 309722. Although the prices have been dropped they are still high per sq foot (esp. compared to Essencia Verde, another recent wood frame project in Fairfield).

Also: the project is now called Ross Bay Landing.

Ok, I could have sworn I just posted here...

I almost got excited at the $309,000 price until I realized it was for the one bed/one bath unit.

Maybe this wasn't a good spot for a condo. It doesn't allow for the density required to keep the prices a little more reasonable.

6 units still listed on MLS.ca

1b/1ba starting at $309,900. It's a bargain

For those prices I'd buy at the Duet, this project is such a disaster both financially and architecturally.
