I am just saying something made that person not stay at the scene.

I didn't imply that you couldn't take a dim view. I took a dim view of the old gal.
I am just saying something made that person not stay at the scene.
Maybe they were afraid they would get in trouble for their actions? It's a reasonable concern.

Unfortunately, until they are caught we will not know what led them to make that choice. What their mental state is our was.
So as much as crucifying on this forum us popular, lets leave that to the courts.

It may be a concern, but in the context of living in a society, it is anything but reasonable.

You seem to want to keep making this about me wanting to make an excuse for this person. I can't, they are the only ones that can. They are they ones that have to live with their choice.

I'm happy to leave the mental state speculation and the anecdotes out of it.
I've actually tried more than once to steer this back to my original focus, which was about road design to mitigate these types of accidents.
So... speed humps?

Someone hit a little girl and then took off. That is a Crime, they know what they did, they are a fugitive from the law
Their is no excuse to flee the scene of an accident when you have hit someone. Their is no sympathy or empathy for that person because they chose to flee.
If they had stayed on the scene and taken responsibility for the incident then that would have changed everything. But because they decided to leave they are now a criminal.

The penalty for leaving the scene of an accident that you know you contributed to, should be no less than for drunk driving or distracted driving.

So... speed humps?
Agreed especially in high children residential areas.

Another truck hit the Bridge on Hereward Rd. today in Esquimalt.
I think that's the 4th or 5th time in 4 years.

So from Dec 1 to Dec 24, VicPD caught 42 drunk or drug impaired drivers.
I'm the sort of person who firmly believes that if you're the type of driver to not care about scuffing up your car, you probably shouldn't be licensed.

^It's strange - some years I seem to hit one* every time I go out, and other years I don't see any. Random chance, I suppose.
* - or two; three's my record for one night.
