Highway 14 is shut down between Impala and Humpback Roads due to an MVI. This means there’s a detour via Gillespie Road and East Sooke.

There are few details but it doesn’t look like the incident occurred along the stretch where the new highway is going.

Fire was paged out to it last night. Came over the air from dispatch as a ‘medical aid for possible gunshot victim’.
EHS sent 4 units and the first one moved in too soon causing dispatch to tell em to get the hell out of there.
Reports are ERT responded for a total of 15-20 RCMP vehicles.

The BC Highways webcam showed RCMP units blocking the road from about 2150 hrs onwards.

The webcam from last night and today can be found in the "Crime" thread.

At about 16:45 a car ended up crashing into market square. It looked like it was coming north on Wharf and should have made the right turn around the Sally Ann. Instead of turning it just went straight, hopped the curb. It missed a pole and the BC hydro fast charger setup, crossed the next road and hit the building.

The driver was unresponsive so people were breaking the car glass with the metal work in progress signs. An hour later it was all cleaned up.
