What?  The wall has started in some areas, needs to be completed in others.  Not that complicated

Debatable.  No actual wall in the standard definition of the term has been constructed.   But upgraded tall fencing has been installed in some areas.  https://www.factchec...der-wall-begun/

The simple truth about the Mexican border in December of 2018 is that it's 40% vehicle barrier (think WW2 hedgehogs), 50% nothing at all (albeit sometimes the Rio Grande), and only 10% pedestrian barrier (the much discussed "wall").

The border will continue to look almost exactly like it does today for decades to come:

Jeb Bush just talked about my border proposal to build a "fence." It's not a fence, Jeb, it's a WALL, and there's a BIG difference!

This thread was such a dumpster fire that taking it off topic has actually improved it

So maybe CO2 does nothing at all: https://www.opednews...181228-572.html

That's really fasinating. Though the Opednews article (and points to them for linking both the papers) is missing part of the point. According to the model, it doesn't matter all that much which gas is added to the atmosphere. But adding 10^9 tonnes per year of anything to the atmosphere could raise GMAT. It's nearly impossible to measure how much of that is absorbed by the oceans or taken in by growing plant matter, but it is certainly thought to be less than that. The regular gas escaping from the atmosphere is also some orders of magnitude less than that.

And other models show that theirs is overly simplified. A good skeptic that doesn’t believe the science is done will also look at the “conclusions” coming from this model with questions instead.
I chuckle at the premise of arguing that the accepted science is manipulated and corrupt except for the science that supports ones point of view....

Yeah, that is interesting. The guys had to change their names to get their paper published, lol.

There’s a link to a YouTube interview with one of the scientists and he says they got their paper published twice, but then they were outed and had to pull the second paper.

They got around the armed guards by spelling their names backwards.

I guess the armed guards are asleep at their posts since we all seem to be reading this theory....

A paper guaranteed to hurt the brain of anyone who has actually studied atmospheric physics. Pure mathturbation.

It will come as no surprise that this work is not published in the most legitimate journal, nor is the the publisher OMICS the most reputable publisher. Pay a fee and they will publish any word salad you want with no peer review whatsoever.

^ It's originally from NASA here, and is also cited in this Syncrude report (p.19).

This aught to solve all the planet's climate-related issues:

The board of the Capital Regional District will be asked next week to declare a climate emergency and take a leadership role toward climate neutrality by 2030. A letter from parks and environment committee members Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps, Saanich Coun. Ned Taylor and Sooke Mayor Maja Tait requests that the CRD board chairperson ask all local governments in the region to declare climate emergencies... “This is an important step to expedite our action on climate change,” said Taylor. “This is the most pressing issue facing our world and with this motion, we have the opportunity to be leaders and take bold action. “We would be the first in Canada to do it — that would be very special.

That final sentence speaks volumes. It is Virtue Signalling 101.

What does a Climate Emergency Declaration mean? Does it trigger special powers to the CRD? I really get concerned that the word 'emergency' is used without an understanding of what actions or powers the CRD would implement or develop.

I think it's a lot like the "emergency" on the US-Mexico border...in other words mostly a political tool.

So we just spent tens of thousands of dollars creating a climate action plan that has the City reaching carbon neutrality (whatever that means) by 2050 and now we have a motion by Helps and Taylor to toss out that plan and create a new one that has us making this achievement by 2030?

I think it's great that in an area as geographically tiny as the CRD we can compensate for the climate actions of the nearly 3 billion inhabitants of China and India - and accomplish this in only 11 years!
