Did this project win approval...? Meeting minutes from 25 February aren't posted yet, but construction continues at the site...

Half the units in the Wave do not have parking stalls; I don't think it too strongly impacts their resale-ability. The units were cheaper per square foot of living space because of lack of parking, and they presumably remain so in resale.

Follow up: this was approved by council on Feb 25 (minutes have been posted on City Hall's website).

I suppose the status can be changed to Approved (or even Under Construction as work seems to be ongoing...)?

Reckless Bikes is moving to where Steamers used to be, BTW. So says their ad in Monday Magazine.

Mods: this one can be changed to U/C.

It appears that an additional storey (or storeys) is being added to this building...

I didn't know this included the neighbouring building, I guess it's all being combined. Seems very european. Very common to reno a few buildings like this together to help lower costs (shared elevator and such) and then add an extra story or two on top.

^I wish the ground floor Korean grocery would get a facelift. The second floor is so interesting in comparison.

This seems like an ideal development. By the time it is finished it could find a market among people who don't want cars. Parking is at a premium right now but that will change if the price of gas goes up and ridership goes down.

There are several other heritage redevelopments nearby without parking but most of them are in Old Town (west of Douglas): The Renaissance, The Leiser Building, and the Morley Soda Water Factory all come to mind.

No noticable changes to the exterior of this thing in months (wtf?). It's nice to have the sidewalk in front of it back to normal though.

Marketing for the rental apartments will begin soon. I believe that the community will be called "The Churchill" (which is also the name of the company that owns the property).

I'll try to find out more details soon...

Correct.

Leasing info.

This seems to be taking forever.

I guess it doesn't matter to those who moved to Victoria in the past decade or so, but the Churchill for a long time was a really gritty bar in Bastion Square. From a marketing perspective, not a name I would have chosen, but it is the name of the development company. Where are they from, anyway?

An occupancy permit will likely be issued *this week* for the Churchill.
