Removing waste to off-site (via boat) from 7 bathrooms seems like it would be a very tough task, no?

If you read his proposal, it doesn't say they will take away human waste, it says the might take it away, or they might bury it onsite

Because removing thousands of pounds of human waste from a remote forest site is extremely complex, and because the CRD doesn't provide any sort of facility to receive it - you certainly can bet that, as is made clear in the proposal, all human waste will be buried somewhere in East Sooke Park.

The application shows no consultation with First Nations. Which is likely an issue.

Maybe pit toilets are the answer.

I mean, we close entire parks to the public so First Nations can use them privately. Does that not therefore open the door to private enterprise using a very small portion of a public park for activities?

Know it all.

Well, clearly the government is open to accepting an application here. But in typical government fashion, it likely does not include acceptable acceptance terms.

It’s an inconsiderate proposal by someone who caught the opportunity presented. My guess is this is what their main survival skill is. Being an “Immigration consultant” he is probably very well versed in opportunities that lie in the depths of government bureaucracy.

This is our park to enjoy nature FFS…. If it was a real proposal it would be a no impact proposal. Use only with no permanent structure or alterations at all. It’s a bushcraft school after all.

Cap Daily:

In an effort to take the guesswork out for local nature lovers, CRD staff have been adding 360-degree visuals of the region’s parks to Google Maps Street View.

The Street View feature is usually meant to help navigate, as its name suggests, streets—the Google car that captures the imagery can’t go where vehicles aren’t allowed. So, CRD park staff have taken it upon themselves to snap wrap-around photos so Google can stitch them together into a virtual walk-through.

Since starting the project last year, staff have captured and uploaded Street Views of 14 parking lots and day-use areas, as well as 20 km of park trails in eight regional parks. The parks were selected based on their popularity with visitors and whether they are user-friendly for all.

Parks available to view on Google Maps Street View:

  • Coles Bay Regional Park

  • East Sooke Regional Park

  • Elk / Beaver Lake Regional Park

  • Francis / King Regional Park

  • Island View Beach

  • Mount Work Regional Park

  • Thetis Lake Regional Park

  • Witty’s Lagoon Regional Park

Aerial views of the Gorge by DimaRealtorCa on the YouTube...

Can I just say, those older Gorge apartment blocks really exemplify attitudes that a lot of Victorians (including developers and the CoV) used to have about views and building massing, etc.? I mean, the buildings are long and oriented so that no balconies or large windows are directly facing the water. Instead, each unit gets a spectacular view of the surface parking lot and the building next door. But high-fives were flying because, hey, at least they aren't highrises.
