...and Craigdarrock Castle, may it forever stand alone, unobstructed, and seen from many vantage points. Don't they have any more barons around to build more of these things?

You mean the way the Eiffel Tower can be seen from any vantage point in 24th century Paris.

The sundown aerials are exactly what I'm talking about when I complain about conspicuously absent establishing shots in promotional materials.

Maybe move that last drone one to the Crime thread...

Areas that restrict drones

Aerodromes include airports, heliports, seaplane bases or anywhere that aircraft take off and land.

If you are flying a drone for recreational use, it is illegal to fly closer than:

  • 5.5 km from aerodromes, and
  • 1.8 km from heliports or aerodromes used by helicopters only

On balance I’m pretty sure crime surveillance will win out over criminals right to privacy.

Not sure I follow. I just don't want my harbour air turbo otter sucking back some kid's drone while on approach.

The Victoria Aerials guy is licensed and certified by Nav Canada.  He is also a real pilot.

Some great time-lapse stuff in here that's begging to be in Victoria tourism ads.

Wow, those are great shots, zoomer!

Great density eh.. and interesting how little overall impact new buildings have from this perspective. Maybe Hudson One will stand out more.

I don’t think the hyperlink takes you to the full size 6000 x 4000, but check that out for fun perusing.

Raising the height of a building like Legato to ~25 stories wouldn't make much of a difference from that angle.

I like the Jukebox on View but methinks the second pic demonstrates the impact that a wide-but-not-tall building can have on adjacent buildings.

There's one new building that stands out more than I expected, especially in the first pic. Can you read my mind and tell me which one it is?

James Bay desperately needs a new high rise.  Looks like a freaking time capsule with all those 60s and 70s buildings

Agree. There's nowhere left to build in the area except up. That one tall building in the middle is an oddity.

200 Douglas or the Duet site would have been great. Heck, 200 Douglas alone would have put James Bay in a criticism-free zone for another 20+ years as far as I'm concerned.

For now I nominate the surface parking lots of the apartment blocks right in the heart of it. I would also accept the Thrifty Foods site.

Capital Park?

Not even close. Do I need to give you a gift?*
