This is the building which housed the Taj Mahal restaurant. It is being renovated for some type of residential use. The dome has already been removed.

Is it still going to used as a training centre for street youth?

As far as I know it is just going to be apartments. I will ask the owner when I talk to him next, but I doubt it.

No, we were not able to keep our funding due to recession cutbacks. If the program survives it will be something very different and very scaled back. For now, the 80 or so kids a year who depended on the project are out of luck. Many of them either aged out of foster care or have one or both parents on the streets. The training program, coupled with the life skills program was able to prepare the graduates for the independence, and find them starter jobs. If it wasn't for Don Calveley and Canoe Brewpub/Truffles Group we wouldn't even have been able to finish with the kids we had already attending. We can only hope that without it, kids in this situation will find some way to break the cycle rather than ending up like their parents. If you are a person with some time and energy and a lot of patience I urge you to contact one of the other agencies in town such as Boys & Girls Club, the YMCA or Big Brothers/Big Sisters and volunteer to mentor a kid. It is one of the toughest and most rewarding jobs you'll ever do.

You know, that's not bad. There's nothing else like it in Downtown and that's always good.

Would love to see a bunch of row houses that look like the left portion of that.

I like it. The only thing I would add is a chunkier wood band along the top of the right building.
It's a cool little building though.

681 is a nice townhouse, too bad we don't have more like it.
