I also know a guy (elevator tech) who was off work for a long while up until earlier this year because of a union strike. He was moonlighting as a journeyman electrician. That can’t be good for prices.

Good article. I’ve personally seen how over-regulation and union deathgrip have made elevators unattainable. I know several people who wanted to install elevators in their homes - to allow them to age in place. On paper it seemed like a great idea, but in reality I can think of 3 single family homes with empty elevator shafts because the plans couldn’t come to fruition.
