What’s the staffing requirement of a restaurant like that, Matt? 15 people on payroll, at least?

I’d say, maybe even a few more? I don’t know what their hours are. Only open evenings? One shift?

We run 15+ shifts a day, $4000 doesn’t cut it. As an owner you’d be better off just working at country grocer for the discount.

I know they used to be open at lunch time, but that no longer appears to be the case.

Only open evenings six days a week (Closed Mondays), open variously 5.5 - 6.0 hours depending on the night, the later hours are on Friday - Saturdays. When we were there, there was 1 front desk/person, 1 hostess, probably 3-4 server/buspeople and 1 chef per table (they cook the food in front of you) for the six tables they have. No idea how many in the kitchen.

So maybe $3000 a day in labour?

Full disclosure: I found a dozen very old but unused Japanese Village chopsticks in the back of a drawer today.

Several doubters have sent me private messages re: "pics or it didn't happen". They say it would be too much of a coincidence for a VV forumer to find a bunch of old Japanese Village chopsticks in the back of a drawer while the Japanese Village thread on VV just happens to be going full tilt. Unbelievable, they say.

Methinks this will shut them up:

Actually, some of them don't even seem to be all that old. Collectors will note the much more rare Edo Japan example.

I call fake. Moss turns that colour of brown in deep summer.

You're suggesting I would intentionally accumulate branded chopsticks from every Asian restaurant in town and then photograph them in a "VV" pattern every winter, spring, summer and fall? You're suggesting I would do this because I'm so darned desperate to make a contribution to your Restaurant & Eatery threads? You're suggesting I would feel left out if I didn't do this, because my finances are so stretched I can't afford to indulge in fine cuisine with anywhere near the same regularity as the rest of you rich ********?

What can I say? Mike K. gets me.

^ The poor spelling by the person that started this thread is part of the allure....no?

That same person in the first post mulls theoretically about invading Japan instead of bombing it.

Did you know that Japan is the only country in the world that has not been occupied or invaded?

The Ainu might disagree with that premise.

Hey that looks like the new Chek 6 logo.

You got me. This whole thing with the chopsticks was just an elaborate promotional tie-in.
