There has been a lot of drama surrounding the most recent review by Times Colonist writer Robert Amos. There have been many open letters in response, which I have posted on my blog. Take a look and please let me know what you think. What exactly is the role of an art writer in a community like Victoria?

Great stuff, Hailey - I think Victoria needs this conversation, thank you for hosting it!

Jess Wheton's response to Amos' review was quite enjoyable. Indeed.
Sometimes the big fish have to be reminded that they are in a small pond.
And from John Luna:
"I would point out that commenting on how many art shows you have seen does not necessarily promise insight on your part."

Ms. B and Charlie,
I agree with you both. It's sad that Amos lacks such imagination. I really don’t see him trying to engage with a lot of the art this city has to offer. And after reading his review I'm not surprised he doesn't go to openings anymore.
