Dragon's Den producers will be scouting for aspiring entrepreneurs in Victoria on March 8 with auditions at the Marriott Hotel, 728 Humboldt St. The hit CBC television show is looking for potential success stories (or dragon fodder) for its upcoming sixth season. As an extra incentive this year, entrepreneurs with an eco-friendly business, invention or idea can qualify for a $100,000 prize. Interested entrepreneurs can apply online starting March 1 and bring the completed applications to the auditions from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dragon's Den airs Wednesday nights at 8. Alex Casewa, a Victorian and Vancouver Island University grad, will pitch his Earthen Palm Leaf dinnerware to the dragons in an episode on March 3. You can check his site at www.earthentrading.ca.

That's one of my favourite shows. Victoria's Rick Silas had a deal but nothing really came of it.

I will go on with my invention, The Condo Name Generator™.
"Beaver, ahoy!""The bridge is like a magnet, attracting both pedestrians and over 30,000 vehicles daily who enjoy the views of Victoria's harbour. The skyline may change, but "Big Blue" as some call it, will always be there."

Isn't it just the US (ABC) version?

Yeah that's the American version. Much tamer by what I have seen.

I'd like to see a Brit version, imagine the carnage.

There is one, it's called Dragon's Den too, perhaps the original.

EDIT: Statred in Japan, and now it's in:

* 2.1 UK
o 2.1.1 Online Dragons' Den
* 2.2 Afghanistan
* 2.3 Australia
* 2.4 Canada
* 2.5 Czech Republic
* 2.6 Finland
* 2.7 Ireland
* 2.8 Israel
* 2.9 Japan
* 2.10 Middle East
* 2.11 Netherlands
* 2.12 New Zealand
* 2.13 Nigeria
* 2.14 Russia
* 2.15 Saudi Arabia
* 2.16 Sweden
* 2.17 United States

And I'm even going to refrain for making some sterotypical Middle East, or Afghanistan Dragon's Den jokes. But believe you me, they are lining up in my head as we speak.

This is not just for inventions, right? I know the Shark Tank also does businesses that are looking to franchise or expand, as well as neat inventions.

Re. the Dragon's Den auditions: does anyone know if there will be tickets available to see the auditions?
When you buy a game, you buy the rules. Play happens in the space between the rules.

I don't think the public has ever been part of an audition or taping. From the behind the scenes footage I've seen on the website the auditions are already crowded and hectic.

Plus what if someone showed up with the ultimate perpetual motion machine, someone in the general public might try to get/buy/steal the invention before the Dragon's see it.
