Wonder how quickly they would arrive if you said your hubby and his buddies were going out to deal with it.

people are already dealing with that and they are not happy... i know my hubby is not happy when he calls the non-emerg to deal with someone trying to squat in our building's back yard/checking doors to get into the parking area and the police call it a low priority and say they are too busy to bother coming by

That's a fairly high priority call. It's important that people still call these in regardless.

It works. I have used that technique in the past.

you and i might think it should be higher priority... but Vic PD doesn't seem to...there are other higher priority calls to deal with and they will send someone if they have time which is rather frustrating paying for a service that can't be accessed in a time of need because it's "too busy"

Has anyone found that in recent years, and in particularly over the last year or so, social media accounts operated by local police forces have devolved into fodder for jokes, memes, animated gifs and otherwise non-policing-related content?

Take for example Oak Bay PD's tweet from this morning featuring banter about deer, and an animated gif of a doctor squeezing down on a syringe:

Greater Victoria Crimstoppers has been infected by the unprofessionalalism of the Oak Bay PD’s social media person and is running their own twitter comedy show.

In a twitter post made this morning they wrote: “Does your meth contain unhealthy gluten, sugar and MSG? Not sure? Bring it down to your local police station and they will test it for free!” along with a photo of a meth pipe and a bag of meth.

People are dying of fentanyl and carfentanil-laced drugs and they’re joking about gluten.

I hope this post is a one-off.

In all seriousness bedbugs are a serious issue that requires more attention. Recall attending a class in Vancouver when one of my classmates found out he had bedbugs I moved to the other side of the room and when I got back home put my backpack in a plastic bag every day. Recall he lost his girlfriend because of this, just found out he has a new boyfriend.
