There’s a term for the London taxi street recall, called “the knowledge,” I think.

Know it all.

Beach Drive, no?

Beach Drive continues well north until in sharply intersects Cadboro Bay Road at those rock (concrete?) gates.

Scenic Drive, to be precise. Who would ever know that detail?

It's not called Scenic Drive.  That's just an umbrella term for the whole water route.  Marine Scenic Drive.

Go check on Google maps.

The loop is  labeled “Scenic Drive”.

Ya, but that's not the civic address.  The sign leading up says "Cattle Point Scenic Loop" but it's not a regular street sign.

Cattle point is tricky for a few reasons, someone I know had a medical emergency our there and their 911 calls went to Washington.

Following this inquest is driving me crazy. If you have two students on a floor at a university…what would your first thought be?

Ok now… what else could have caused this situation?

Solution? Don’t do drugs.

The only thing that makes sense is the 911 dispatcher did not want to stigmatize the caller.

Has the inquiry heard directly from the dispatcher yet?

Know it all.

Stop talking sense Sparky - you mean there needs to be a measure of taking personal responsibility for your actions?! That's blasphemy man. Especially in 2025. Don't you know that all your actions good and bad these days are directly attributable to your parents?? If something good happens well...fine. I guess. If not then its definitely your parents. Or the 'system'. But never you. C'mon even at 18 - when admittedly almost all of us did dumb things, even sometimes really dumb things - you don't have enough common sense not to ingest drugs especially snorting a powdery substance found in a plastic vial in a box of unopened alcohol on the streets of downtown Victoria.....?!

What happens if a person gets "stigmatized"? Anything at all?

Hopefully none of us will ever have the misfortune of experiencing it.

So far as I can tell, stigma has resulted in lower rates of tobacco use, alcohol use, and drinking and driving.

The dog 💩 shaming campaign hasn’t gone on in the Netherlands. Parks are ruined. Winter is a nightmare. This is a good use of propaganda.

Saanich asks for fire hall to be excluded from UVic development plans

A Saanich fire hall on McKenzie Avenue is on university-owned land that the University of Victoria plans to include in a mixed-use development.

https://www.timescol...-plans-10655465

The fire hall at 1900 McKenzie Ave. near Gordon Head Road is on university-owned land that UVic plans to include as part of a mixed-use development dubbed the University District.

The project — which will not be for student housing — is expected have a mix of market housing and commercial space.

Why would UVic be in that business? Sometime in the past they were given this land - for free most likely. I’m not sure they should be in the general development business.
