What both Sandown and Sidney crossing projects are missing is residential. A few low rise condos like Belmont Market would be a great addition

Do we know if there is going to be a traffic light at McDonald Park Rd and the Pat Bay? Would suck to have another light when you're late for the ferry, but better than an uncontrolled left-turn or something.

I could be wrong but I don't think the highway is changing, access to mcdonald park rd will be the same as existing

Perhaps this would be a good location for an airport hotel

Eeep. The intersection with Beacon will be interesting once both shopping centres are open and are attracting all that additional traffic.

I'd argue that upwards of 90%* of the shoppers using Sandown will be coming from south of the shopping centre. So driving Hwy 17 northbound, they can use the left turn lane off the highway onto McDonald Park Road. And going home they can merge onto Hwy 17 southbound at the same intersection.

From what is currently being constructed, it appears as though all 3 of the original site plans for SC were rejected.
The site is actually very close to Option 1, with some small changes.
This is what the plan is now:

So the large structure under construction is actually 3 buildings? Have any of the smaller buildings on the site been started yet?

Nope, its just the Canadian Tire. It's the only building under construction. You can't really tell from the photos, but the building under construction is just Building 1. There's quite a bit of land still on either side.
Here's a rough overhead of the site. The black box being the building under construction, the red area being the whole site. The road/driveway you see under construction (where the yellow loader is) in the pictures is represented as the black line below.

Gotcha. I suppose the only way I'll get a real sense of the scale of the project is to check it out in person when I am out that way. Of course I have no idea when that will be.

What's interesting is both Sidney Crossing and Sandown Commons are being overseen by Omicron.

Their name is still associated with the leading doc linked above. Is that a very old doc, perhaps?

Who was kicked out? Omicron?

Ya that's my bad...the leasing document is from 2014, so out of date I'm sure.
This article mentions Platform replacing Omicron at Sandown in 2015.
