So i am in search of the best vietnamese PHO. The place I've been going to (on fort-not the chain) is getting way too crowded at lunch time and everytime i go i keep telling myself never again. The service sucks and the dinning area is getting 'smelly' not to mention i would never use the bathroom there.*gross* couldn't imagine the cleaniness of their kitchen.

I saw an add in the saanich news there is a new Pho place open on Fisgard called pho vuong. anyone been? There is a coupon in the add for a free appy too. In the mean time I'll see what anyone else thinks!
I used to love this place that closed down -quite a while now-forgot what it was called but it was in china town too. hmm miss that place

I read somewhere the proper way to pronounce pho is to say the F word but leaving off the ck sound.

Some people seem to like Pho Ever on Pear Street next to the Shelbourne Plaza.

The pho at the place next to Brickyard on Yates is pretty good and so is their other food. There is also a new place on Douglas near city hall.

I'd say Pho Vy (across the street from Pho Hoa) or Green Leaf Bistro (new place on Douglas, across from Moores' old location).

I am not an expert, but I enjoy the Chicken Pho at pho vuong. Plus, the service is great, very friendly and the restaurant is very clean. It isn't too busy at lunch, but I think that will change soon.

Pho Ever up Shelbourne on Pear St. is pretty good and they have a whole lot of other dishes. Its owned and run by a Korean family but they do bento box lunches, Korean dishes like chopchay (sp?), bibmbap, kalbi etc plus Vientnamese standbys all in the $10 range for lunch. Free parking, too!

I second the place next to Brickyard Pizza at Yates and Blanshard. It's operated by a Vietnamese family and they're well aware of the right mix of ingredients and spices to make their dishes taste right.

Know it all.

Ok I'm going to try the place next to the brickyard today for lunch. Green leaf is nice but a little too expensive/small portions for a daily-lunch eatery for us, although it's really good food!

This has a new name now, something that has "pho" in it, and the sign outside the other day said it had no menu items over $10.

That would be Pho Vuong. I believe the owner used to work at Pho Vy as well.

Alright! So i went to Pho vuong on sunday . We ordered their Pho special and it was very similar to Pho Vy's but lots more meat. Service was fast! Our bean sprouts came shortly after we ordered and i heard a bell ding and there was my Pho. There wasn't much customers, we were there after the lunch hr ~1pm and 4-5 tables left. I think that will cahnge once pple hear more about it. The dinning area twice the size of pho vy and very clean. Used our coupon and got a free fried roll. total bill less then $20 bucks for 2pple!
