...Now you can’t touch trees without a tribunal deciding on whether you’re allowed to remove it, and replace it.
Unless the tree's presence interferes with a bike lane, then it's gone a colonial statue in the night*

Not sure if we have seen this before. Interesting article by BC Hydro on a Green Roof. There is an open house today where you have to email to get an invite. There might still be time to see it.

^ Ya. Nothing about that looks like a long-term maintenance issue.

Big power outage in Saanich due to a motor vehicle accident on the highway.
Probably causing a mess to traffic too?
Cringe to think about an accident bad enough to cause this much of an outage.

We get plenty of outages out this way, and it’s pretty cool to see the armada of five or six trucks in a convoy heading out to restore service. Makes you really appreciate the nation we live in.

There are crews always on.
True. The issue is usually whether they call people in who are off shift and/or decide to engage with a 3rd party contractor.

A survey conducted by the government-regulated power supplier found one-third of respondents said they use air conditioning specifically to keep their pets cool during summer months. Of those people, a quarter are leaving the AC on for pets even if they aren’t home. They also say costs are not a concern.

“..In addition to cost and supply issues for electricity, concerns have also been raised about restaurants in new buildings not being able to cook with natural gas, and people being blocked from making their own choices about the types of energy they want to buy...”:
