There is so much B.S. in some of the last few posts, this forum is going to need a bigger shovel sooner than later.

The Point Roberts Water District purchases its water from the Vancouver Water Board at a fixed rate based on 840,000 gallons per day of usage.

The Point Roberts Water District pays full price for the use of the full 840,000 gallons even if less than that amount is used by residents of Point Roberts.

The Point Roberts Water District pays full market rate for the water they purchase.

There is no "ground water tapping" (WTF?)

There is no "millions of litres for $2.25

The water arrangement for the Vancouver Water District to first supply water to the Point Roberts Water District was contractually agreed to in 1987.

Point Roberts also gets its cable TV, electricity, and major fire protection services from Canadians.

Look at a map, and you'll eventually be able to figure out why.

I know Point Roberts well.   A lot of stuff was supplied from Canada in the past but now it is really only down to the water.    The water is actually a recent thing.   It came about because in 1973 Point Roberts wells dried up and they needed piped water.   It took till 1988 before a pipeline was built through to Point Roberts.    A large reason for this was because the Greater Vancouver Water District already had an issue with the pipe going to Tsawwassen, it was too small.   People in Tsawwassen opposed any water going to Point Roberts until Tsawwassen had a larger water supply.   Tsawwassen had been on water restrictions for half the year since the late 60s.

BC gave the Greater Vancouver Water District the right to sell water to Point Roberts as one of the special powers of the corporation

We are behind last years pace for this day at 76%. There was 138 mm of rain in November.

Crisis averted. https://www.crd.bc.c...kly-water-watch

5. Rainfall: Sep 1- Dec 16 Average (1914 - 2017): 655.6 mm 2018 718.5 mm (110% of average)

Rainfall now above average. Drought due to climate change is over.

I think what the "experts" need to realize is that perhaps due to climate change our weather patterns are shifting; longer dryer summers, followed by shorter wetter winters. We need to manage the rainfall we get, when we get it more wisely. Expansion of the reservoir to hold more water in the winter seems like a no-brainer, so of course it will never happen.

Great. Now we have climate change to thank for under-drought.

I don't think Victoria ever had an actual drought. It just has dryer than normal or wetter than normal. That said if you can't see that we have noticeably warmer winters now than even twenty years ago I would be surprised. Two Japanese Cherry Trees are blossoming on Douglas outside the Crystal Garden building today.

When do we start the countdown to the next #watercrisis ?

Immediately after 2 consecutive days of sunshine and days over 20 C.

We’ve had a #watercrisis since, like 2004 when we were told to conserve or run out of water. Then we over conserved and the CRD ran out of money. Then we paid more to conserve. Then we were told climate change will lead to drought. Now climate change is leading to excess precipitation. Then ...you get the picture.

The reservoir is currently overflowing like the Mississippi but in five months we’ll be facing water restrictions, and on it goes.

Mike, get with the program!!! 'climate change' is yesterdays news...now the new mantra is 'pollution'. Have a listen to Mckenna or Trudeau, you wont hear them say 'climate change' as much anymore now its 'pricing pollution'  :badpc:

Why dont they say what it really is....'wealth redistribution/confiscation'

Is that the new buzzword now?

Global warming -> Climate change -> Pricing pollution

I’m curious what step four will be.

Why is Goldstream sitting at only 65%?
