Hello,

Good to be on this forum.
Here's my first post.

This evening I want to year my girlfriend out for our one year anniversary.
I have looked at many restaurant reviews but I still cannot make up my mind.

I'm hoping for something romantic and perhaps a good view.
I've narrowed my options down to two.
Vista 18 and Aura

Which one should I go for?
Are there better options out there aside from these two?

What do you recommend?

Thanks a bunch

Tough to beat Vista 18 for its view, and I have found the food to be excellent.

This is easy.

I have been to Vista 3 or 4 times and never have had an experience I was very happy with. Either the food is just OK or staff have been rude.

Been to Aura twice and both times had a very good experience. Great food and service. There's a good view at Aura as well.

Before choosing either these two, I would consider Stage, Ulla or Veneto Lounge. You've got a safe bet with these three. The first two are flawless.

Vista 18 has a great view but mediocre food. Aura is excellent for food and the view. Ulla is good but it has no view. Stage charges very high prices for small quantities of food.

I would start with a drink at Vista then take her down to Aura for dinner.

There is no view at this time of year at dinner time anyways, unless you are going to eat at 4:30 PM. I'd go to Ulla, Brasserie L'Ecole, or Stage all of which have great ambience, and superlative food.

Vista is about the only place with a view tonight, of the city lights at least. Aura, Lure, Milestones - all those will have twinkly lights, but from sea level.

You'll be fine with the food at Aura or Vista, can't speak to the others. Ulla, Brio, Brasserie - can't go wrong, if you can get in. ;)

Matt.

I haven't heard that word used as a verb before. I hesitate to ask what it means.
"Beaver, ahoy!""The bridge is like a magnet, attracting both pedestrians and over 30,000 vehicles daily who enjoy the views of Victoria's harbour. The skyline may change, but "Big Blue" as some call it, will always be there."

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for your great suggestions.

I ended up going to Aura, and I had a wonderful time.

The service was great, the food was good and the atmosphere was quite wonderful. The price is a little bit on the higher side, but since I enjoyed the night, I say it was worth it.

So, Aura gets a big plus from me.

Thank you all for your replies.

Off topic, I know, but Stage is clearly an example of quality over quantity.
