Drove by it today, but have no clue what memory express is? Kind of looked like a video game store or something from what I could see through the window.

Memory Express is a pretty cool computer doodad store. I used to visit the one in Aberdeen Mall just for fun.

Computer parts. All the bits and pieces you need to build or upgrade your PC. I've only ever been to the one in Richmond but they've always had great customer service and competitive prices. Definitely geared towards the high performance gaming community, though, at least here.

Basically, it's NCIX.

Basically, it's NCIX.
But with infinitely better customer service (and it's not bankrupt)

Just found out that Lens and Shutter (camera store for those not in the know) recently closed their Broad Street location. The space has been acquired and is now operated by Henry's (also a camera store).

Oh, wow, that's a shock. They had four Vancouver stores not too long ago as well. All gone I assume.

The way I read the information available so far it's just the one store that closed. Then again, Lens and Shutter's website isn't resolving currently, so I dunno.
Then again, I tried searching for them on Google Maps. The locations in Vancouver and Kelowna are marked as closed also.

Imagine travelling back to the 1980s when Lens & Shutter were the top camera company in town and saying "In the year 2018 AD every person will carry a high-quality camera with them at all times...but you will be bankrupt".

Bespoke Design on Oak Bay Avenue might be closing soon; there's a large sign on the building advertising that the space is available for sublease.

Word on the street is the bingo hall on Burnside is shutting down at the end of the month.
It is not just the word, it is a fact!

Why have they decided to shutter their business?
Hopefully it is an indication that this dumpy, third-world-style plaza is going to be redeveloped.

That plaza is the place that dreams and ambitions go to die.

I believe it was that the economics didn't work. AFAIK, there are no immediate plans to redevelop the plaza.

Bike lanes obviously. There are new ones on Tillicum.
