That is a very cool sign. Neon needs to make a comeback.

I'm very happy to see neon, especially on one of Franc D'Ambrosio's buildings.

You might recall when the Atrium was being built I reminded him about the history of Blanshard/Yates as the movie corner of Victoria and its spectacular lighted signs and how great it would be if the Atrium had some really spectacular retail signage knowing full well Franc's aesthetic was more low-key and understated. Franc looked at me as if I asked him to eat a turd and as you might expect, Atrium's signage turned out to be understated to the point of being invisible.

Interestingly, the opposite corner of the Atrium at Blanshard & Johnson now has quite a large, prominent neon sign at Superbaba. It's inside is quite visible from the street and looks great.

You obviously don't appreciate Victoria's heritage and history. The reason why many decades worth of neon signage was removed from Yates Street is because that neon signage never belonged in the first place.

Preserving and respecting heritage in modern Victoria is mostly about correcting past mistakes. And holy cow, old Victorians made a lot of mistakes! They didn't understand their city at all.

This sign was a later addition to the building after pig went down. Pig’s sigh was also small and understated keeping in line with Franc’s vision for the building.

The Big O Tires franchise in downtown Victoria located at 1319 Quadra street is accepting Westshore Big O Tires customers. If you had an appointment at Westshore that can not be facilitated due to their unfortunate closure please reach out.

A popular shopping chain is almost ready to open its doors in Langford.

Greater Victoria’s second Marshalls location is scheduled to open March 9 in the Millstream Village Shopping Centre.

A spokesperson for the store confirmed the opening date, promising more details in the coming week.

In theory, this is my business branch. WTF do you need to actually go there? Cannot remember the last year I went in there.

Nope  - unless you count the ATM in the lobby.

Why would I need to go into the actual branch?

To buy coin for your float and $20’s for your atm?

I generally deal in transactions that have a couple of zeroes attached. We are in totally different worlds of business. You deal in many small (to me) transactions. I'm happy with one transaction a day because of those zeroes. I do have a "float". Can't remember the last time I used it.

A surprising number of tradesmen in Victoria have a strong preference for cash.

How many bills does an atm take? :)

Yes, many hundreds of small transactions a day. Restaurant business is basically picking up dimes, so you’d better hope there are a lot of them.

Anyways, as you can see there are lots of good reasons to step into a branch.

Matt.
