Grove Outdoors, downtown Victoria’s only sporting goods consignment store, will be celebrating the opening of its new Johnson Street location on Dec. 10.
“We’ve only been in business about seven months but have basically outgrown the shared space we currently use on Yates Street,” said Sydney Munk, the owner and founder of Grove Outdoors. “Moving to 614 Johnson St. provides us with a much bigger space and brings us closer to all of the other outdoor stores.”
Currently located at 856 Yates St., Grove Outdoors opened for business in April of this year with the goal of collecting and reselling gently used outdoor sporting goods, except those used in team sports or golf. The outlet’s inventory includes skiing equipment, cycling items, camping gear, backpacks, clothing, footwear and more.

COMMISSION: Grove earns a commission on each sale that is made. For now, the split is 40% to you, 60% to Grove. Once we have regular inventory turnover and become Victoria's go-to outdoor consignment store, we hope to offer an even larger percentage to consignors.
DISCOUNTING: (these policies have not started yet) Grove changes its inventory on a regular basis based on seasons and turn over. If items are not selling quickly they will be discounted using the following schedule:
- After 3 weeks: 25% discount
- After 6 weeks: 50% discount
- After 180 days: item will be donated or returned to you

Hillside seems to be pretty consistent at keeping its spaces leased. The same cannot be said for downtown Victoria.

Tillicum is such a sad place. I avoid going there because it depresses me.

I used to stop in to the London Drugs or Lowe's there and would sometimes use other businesses (hello Teen Burger Combo) because it's easy to get to the from the ferry and on my way to other stops but not anymore.

I'd say you're not alone, but these days, on any visit to Tillicum, one is pretty much alone.
