Word on the street is the 7-11 at Yates and Quadra is closed. Signage gone and windows boarded up.

Apparently both of the 7-11's downtown are closed/closing.

I don’t think the 7-11 in the falls or corner of Douglas/Johnson are closing

I thought you guys would be cheering on the closure of 7-Elevens due to them somehow, no matter where they are, always being able to attract sketchy people.

Sketchiest place in Gordon head, Guess what? The 7-Eleven. Want to know where the sketchiest place in Sidney was, once again the 7-Eleven before it closed.

I always thought of Gordon head ending at McKenzie. But the circle k is the same business different brand.

Isn't there a 7/11 at Feltham/Shelbourne?

Target said Wednesday that organized retail crime will fuel $500 million more in stolen and lost merchandise this year compared with a year ago.

Target’s inventory loss, called shrink, totaled about $763 million last fiscal year, based on calculations from the company’s financial filings. With the anticipated increase, shrink this year would surpass $1 billion.

Sketchy people aren't going away, just means that they will move on to other businesses now.

The large chains like 7/11 tell their staff not to confront crooks. As a result, they become targets. Once they are gone then the crooks move over to the locally and family-owned businesses where an owner gets to decide whether they let their life savings continually walk out the door or if they need to take action if the police won't.

Not that long ago, the activists who also played the role of reporters told us the sense of lawlessness was just a perception problem, and even the mayor said people who engage in crime are doing so out of desperation. Council even talked about survival crimes.

Regular customers, from seniors to young families, have helped keep the store alive over the years he said.

Bendall said he has received an “outpouring of love and sadness” since he announced the closure on social media Tuesday.

He hopes to find a buyer who will purchase the store’s entire collection.

An online petition was started Tuesday to have the Greater Victoria Public Library and the University of Victoria buy the store’s inventory.

Bendall said he’d love to see the collection go to the library or another location where it would be appreciated and shared with others.

The library already has a huge collection of DVDs. I am not sure that his selection of rather highly used DVDs would add much.

I wonder if this guy thought of maybe a membership model. Could he maybe have found 2,000 people to chip in $5 or $10/mo. to keep the nostalgia going?

The monster in the Inner Harbour

Whatever in the world were they thinking? Who thought it would be a good idea to block the view of one of the most beautiful harbours in the world with this black/brown monstrosity? I guess the only good view of the harbour from Ship Point will be if you are lounging on the top of this brown and black behemoth.
