While voiding your warranty...

True but most of the things that get fixed locally aren't covered under warranty anyways (ie broken glass and battery).

Trade Roots has closed its retail shop on Herald.

We are announcing today some big changes for Trade Roots. We have decided that we will not be renewing the lease in our retail space and will instead focus on our workshop and the residential and commercial design that we love so dearly.

It has been a great pleasure to serve Victoria and meet so many great people in the city and we look forward to seeing you at the markets and on the web for years to come.

Love,
Carla, Christos, Accalia, and Daisy

Their website only lists one other retail store in Canada. Anyone know if they are opening more elsewhere?

It has a whole new look!

In May, Jacob filed for bankruptcy and began to liquidate inventory at all 92 of its stores across Canada.

The company has been under creditor protection since November 2010, when it underwent operational restructuring, which included closing some 50 stores. But Jacob, which was founded in 1977, said it was unable to make the business profitable or to find new financing.

This is a brand new storefront on Broad next to Robinson's.  They have removed the recessed entry, so nobody can sleep/urinate in the doorway.

Is that a challenge? I can sleep standing up, and I know I'm not the only one that can pee standing up too.

(Not the owner of, nor am I associated with, the Blue Fox Café, in any way.)

Any one heard anything about this?:

"Dr. Graeme Macaloney, has proposed leasing Crystal Garden from the City as the site for a new Scotch Whiskey distillery, complete with restaurant, tasting room, etc. Some zoning changes would be required, such as change of use. If the Crystal Gardens site is ultimately chosen, the DRA board has agreed to work with the developer and the City to expedite the CALUC process."

The only 'official' Patagonia run store is in Toronto... the soon to be 3 'Patagonia' brand specific stores are in Calgary, Banff and soon to be Victoria.  These 3 are run by Elements, which is an independently run company carrying almost exclusively Patagonia product.  Elements follows the values, mission statement, warranties etc of Patagonia... and in my experience have always been an amazing company to deal with (made many a purchase at Elements in my former home Calgary :)

There's a Patagonia store in Nelson. It's an outlet one though.
