Lift has gone well so far. Almost rotated 90 degrees and should be lowered onto the barge in a few minutes.

Thanks for the feed Gary!

CFAX says the part left behind will be picked up in May, does that make sense?

Yes, that was part of the plan. The dynamic beast will return for the last section.

It appears they're moving the barge into the main harbour in order to rotate it 180 degrees.   They'll then bring it back to tackle the west approach removal.

I think the idea is to come back for the next bit after they close the bridge again at 6:00PM tonight.

So you think they're just going to park it somewhere?  Oh, how about the new marina?   :D

The Dynamic Beast is certainly "mega" but it's not much of a yacht.

Why not re-open the new bridge now?

They're lowering the bridge.  Looks like they're going to re-open early!   :)

Did anyone catch the name of the tug that is moving the Beast?  I tried to find "Dynamic Beast" on marinetraffic.com to get an idea where it's going but it's not listed there.  Maybe the tug is.

It's gone for good...  The main deck is probably going to be "processed" in Vancouver.

I have a picture for that.  Took it a few days ago cause it just had so many cool gizmos on its mast.  Try the Ocean Monarch, its towed this barge before.

Thanks.  Definitely enroute to Vancouver.  Probably won't be back for the west approach span till it comes back for the remains of the counterweight tower.

A couple of thoughts, first they haven't removed the cones from Tyee Rd and Harbour Rd, they've just been put to the side like they've been doing the past few days.  If we were really done until May something I would think they would have removed the cones.

Second, will the presence of the west approach structure slow/halt the work on the west side public space?  It doesn't appear to be in the way but I'm pretty sure the pier at the western end of the approach span will be demolished and that can't happen until the span is removed.

According to Jonathan Huggett (on CHEK news), work on the west side park area will begin next week.

The old bascule piers are being left in place for now, aren't they?

The bridge is just South-east of Saturna at this time.
