Dropped off a jacket at the drycleaner at Quadra and Johnson this afternoon.
Handed it to the clerk, pointed out a bit of a mark/stain that needed some extra attention, specified a pick-up date, and the attendant handed me my pick-up slip.
Now, here's the strange part.
When I left, I looked at my slip. It has my full name on it. I never gave her my name, or my phone number. I did not recognize the clerk (the slip says her name is Cheryl), and I don't go there all that often, maybe once every four months.
I did notice they had no complimentary suckers today, and they usually do, but the place has changed names/owners, it's no longer a One-Hour Martinizing, it's just called something Cleaners.
I did phone a couple hours earlier to ask if they were open, and until what time, but I didn't end the phone call with "I'll see you in 126 minutes with a black jacket" or anything. But I suppose they might have had call display, but it still doesn't explain how she tied that phone call to me.
Maybe they have facial-recognition software?
EDIT: I recall making a funny joke last time I was there about a stain on some pants, it wasn't a rude joke, but it was funny, to both me and the clerk. I forget what it was though. Maybe that stood out in her mind and she recognized me.
