That's a 30 zone anyways, not hard to see what's happening and stop if necessary. Weird little street.

Really a terrible intersection. I slow to a crawl, don't need to get to the HoCo that much quicker.

The bridge, which is expected to take 32 weeks to complete, will give cyclists and others a safer, more straightforward way to cross the Island Highway

32 weeks. Is it just one guy doing all the work?

Riding the Lochside trail on Sunday was a challenge. I have never seen it so crowded; it was unbelievable.

The long-awaited Galloping Goose pedestrian and cycling bridge over the Island Highway in Colwood will start to take shape by the end of the month.
Work to install the bridge span will see two overnight closures of Island Highway on Aug. 27 and 29.
Steven Wilson, project manager for contractor Surespan Construction, said the company has fabricated three massive steel girders and precast concrete decking at its yard in Duncan.
On-site construction of the bridge area near Ocean Boulevard will resume on Monday to prepare for the installation of the bridge spans and decking, which will be brought down from Duncan on trucks. The pillars for the span, approaches and utility work are completed.
The City of Colwood said the overnight closures in both directions of the Island Highway between Wale Road and Goldstream Avenue will take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Aug. 27 and 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Aug. 29.

The overpass for the Galloping Goose trail over Sooke Road in Colwood is one step closer to completion, with steel spans being installed.
SureSpan built the steel spans offsite, and the first two spans are in place, with the final to be installed overnight on Aug. 27 with road closures in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Traffic will again need to be closed overnight on Friday, Aug. 29 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for crews to install the bridge decking.

Yes,should be north. From the Selkirk Trestle south, there is only 1.5km of trail. Do they mean from the trestle ‘north?’
"Trail improvements include:
Renewing the Brett, Selkirk, and Swan Lake trestles
******Widening up to 4 km of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail between Selkirk Trestle and Grange Road (adjacent to McKenzie Avenue)******
Widening 2 km of the Lochside Regional Trail between the Switch Bridge and McKenzie Avenue/Borden Street
Adding energy-efficient lighting for visibility and safety"

There is a politician in Arizona that wants to restrict speed limit for scooters, e-bikes etc. to 15mph on multi use trails. Also he wants them to slow to 5mph when passing pedestrians.
I routinely ride at about 14-17mph on all the trails and I am continually passed by others going much faster. The worst offenders are the peletons of spandex warriors riding two or more abreast and going just as fast as they can, much in excess of 15mph.
When I see them coming opposite direction I move right over to the center line of the trail causing them, usually, to fall back into a single line.

Would that restriction even apply to spandex warriors? Those folks are usually on road bikes, no electrification, and it's pretty easy for any somewhat in shape person to keep those clipping along at 40kph+ on flat roads.
