Len Barrie, former CEO of Bear Mountain Resort, will go on trial for criminal tax violations next March. Revenue Canada and the Crown are charging Barrie with failing to file taxes in 2008 and 2009 for Bear Mountain Projects Ltd. Last year, the company was taken over by creditor HSBC to recoup $250 million in debts.
Barrie has pleaded "not guilty" to the tax charges. The trial is scheduled to begin March 26, 2012, at 9:30 am in room 203. A trial confirmation hearing is set for February 23, 2012.

Court documents show the foreclosure of Len and Krista Barrie's assets is proceeding by court order. All five of Len and Krista Barrie's properties are to be sold, with the proceeds going to HSBC.
Barrie's 13,000-square-foot Bear Mountain mansion was listed for sale on Sotheby's as of March 16, but only the Google cache is available now. Another archive listing is here.
In addition, Barrie's Kelowna apartment and three other properties are being sold.
