Sets an odd precedent though. For accusing the players, you get $2M settlement.
Now that they’re found not criminally responsible, she’s not giving that money back.
Ya, but it's not nearly the first time this type of thing has gone this way.

The bar to win a civil suit is lower than the one to win a criminal suit. That's always been true. It's also part of the stupid sue happy culture in the US (combined with extraordinary sized tort/punitive damages).

Along with ex-Calgary Flame Mike Vernon, and others, yes. Barrie's son has had a more uneventful post hockey life and hopefully will do well in the new role with the Canucks. Not only did Barrie senior bomb out on Bear Mountain but at one time was a co-owner of the Tampa Bay Lightnining in the NHL and that did work out very well either in the end.

22 NHL players lost all or most of their investments in BM. Vernon the most.
Len the least.

A woman has filed a lawsuit alleging that Willie Mitchell, the Island-born former NHL hockey player who once played for the Vancouver Canucks, sexually assaulted her at his Tofino home three years ago.
The woman, identified only as S.D.K. in the lawsuit filed this week in B.C. Supreme Court, says that after working a shift on Sept. 11, 2022, at the 1909 Kitchen and Bar at the Tofino Resort and Marina, she consumed a number of alcoholic drinks at an adjoining pub, known as The Hatch.
At The Hatch, she became intoxicated and has little memory of what happened later, the court documents say.
The woman alleges that Mitchell, who was one of the owners of Tofino Resort and Marina and was also serving as acting general manager, escorted her out of the pub, drove her to his home, and there sexually assaulted her.
She says in the lawsuit that she does recall several details, including that she did not consent to any of his actions. She alleges that Mitchell did not use a condom, and she would not have consented to unprotected sex, even if she were aware of what was happening.
None of the allegations in the civil case have been proven in court.
“Mitchell as personal defendant also knew or ought to have known that the plaintiff’s capacity to consent … was impaired and he failed to take any or any reasonable steps to ensure he had her informed consent,” the lawsuit says.
When she woke the next morning, she discovered that she had only one shoe and did not have her ID or wallet. She says she walked back to the pub to collect her other shoe, her purse, phone and wallet.

Mitchell and wife, Megan welcomed their first child, a son named Paxton, on May 4, 2017.
On September 14, 2022, the Tofino Resort and Marina, co-owned by Mitchell, announced the cancellation of their Race for the Blue fishing tournament and temporary closure of the 1909 Kitchen and Bar as a result of allegations of inappropriate behavior by members of staff.

I think that should be rewritten to read "allegations made by members of staff of inappropriate behaviour."

For the first time in 14 years, Victoria’s Tyson Barrie is not playing for an NHL team.
After more than 800 NHL games the 34-year-old retired this summer. But while some players struggle in retirement, Barrie is already well on his way to the next stage of his life.
It’s a Wednesday afternoon in Oak Bay, and Barrie is busy at work at his home office.
