Sooke is currently undergoing a zoning change to a ton of lots in and around the core. There was an open house and online survey to try to get feedback from the community that lasted only 2 weeks. It seems to me like they are really trying to ram this through very quickly. Being that some of the changes are VERY drastic, I am surprised it is even possible to do such changes of such magnitude this quickly. Does anyone here own property that is greatly affected? Did anyone submit comments?

This seems to be the response I get everywhere (nothing). It seems crazy to me its even legal to so drastically affect the price of land by changing the zoning so incredibly. I guess time will tell to see what the end result is.

Back in the 80's, Esquimalt rezoned the entire municipality to it's "current use" In other words if you had a duplex zoned piece of property but you only had a single family house on it, you were rezoned to single family.

There were a lot of pissed off taxpayers that couldn't do anything about it.

Wow, that's the ultimate in "Nothing should ever change, EVER!" policy making. How could they get away with that??

The sad thing is, I'm sure many would love such an action in Victoria...
