Ask any GP, mine spends a minimum of 2 hours every night five nights a week after his last appointment, faxing prescriptions to pharmacies. Most do. Of course you could ask 'what's a GP?' but but that's another conversation, heh.

In spite of this being 2024 remember many corporate entities and those who manage or run them are conscious of cost and tend to be conservative. They aren't early adopters of whatever fancy technology solutions happen to be available. "Fax" is cheap relatively speaking, requires no special skills or training, instructions or - ahem - regular upgrades or IT support; nor is it subject to malware or other viruses and provided its turned on can send or receive communications 7x24. Mainly its EASY to use and that has advantages for many users whether they are in the corporate world or are independent operators such as doctors..

I am pretty sure GPs are mythical creatures that do not exist in the real world.

People living near the Malahat will now spend a few more hours in the car each week to pick up their mail.

The gas station and convenience store at 231 Trans-Canada Hwy. has been a Canada Post outlet for decades.

“I moved here in 1988, and it was here way before that. It’s probably been here 60 years,” says Malahat resident Mark Spencer.

He and many others showed up Monday morning to pick up their mail, only to find a notice posted to the store’s door saying the Canada Post outlet was temporarily closed and service had been rerouted to Shawnigan Lake.

“It’s another 25 minutes every day,” says Doreen Ross, who commuted to the Canada Post location at Shawnigan Lake Road.

I don't get it, how many residents pick up their mail here?   Is it just people with a "general delivery, Malahat" mailing address?

It’s likely where Canada Post delivers their parcels.

It's just a rural PO box basically...  Merville was the same, everyone would pick up mail from the store/gas station..

Don’t they have a super box? Why not just install one.
