Ottawa predicts it will take up to nine years to introduce community mailboxes for all four million households, but most of them will switch within three to four years.

How could it possibly take that long? It’s a lot of work, but if the savings are substantial (they are about $100 per address per year) then the work should be expedited, including using contractors to do the required hard and soft work.

Our country is going to hell.

Only here (and also in the USA) could the organization that has a daily delivery pattern and logistics to deliver to to every single Canadian address **** it up so bad over the 15 or 30 years when parcel delivery explodes to four or five times what us was in 1995.

I haven’t seen mail delivery to my door in 13 years, somehow it all works out. My neighborhood super box is a three minute walk, it’s not like these things are a kilometre away.

I’m ok with the lettermail cutback. But parcel delivery is like I say 5x what it was 30 years ago. How did CP fail so bad to capitalize on their strong logistics position?

FFS I get Mr. Noodles delivered to my door for cheaper than Dollarama.

I am concerned though that the microwave/no container version of Kraft Dinner has disappeared from Dollarama shelves. It was $1.75.

It’s entirely possible that the voodoo magic that made this version possible is killing people*

* I’m not saying it is, but it seems to have been pulled from shelves. Or at least Dollarama shelves.

I might be mistaken as it’s been so long since I did the box version.

But I think you had to boil water in some type of vessel you owned, then add the pasta after that. You had to measure stuff out. Then stir, maybe drain some water, then add the powdered “cheese”. The new system above, you just add the whole thing (less the “cheese” packet) with some water into the packet you bought and it has some crazy crystals. Anyway, throw that in the microwave correctly, retrieve it at the right time, then add the cheese mix. Super easy.

Zero bowls used.

It’s $1.75 though, and not 79 cents like the old version was on sale.

I caution against trying the instant poutine flavoured KD cup. Definitely worse than it sounds.

Instant poutine???

Instant kraft dinner with poutine flavour. One of the things where you pour boiling water over and let sit 3 minutes. Freeze dried I guess? Anyways, do not recommend, mail order or not.

Canada post partnered with Zonos to deal with duty payment. I checked it out. 1 star on the app store. Signed up online, connected my account. Found out through the fine print you must use the phone app to set up a shipment. Because business does all it's biz on the phone right? Wouldn't recognize my account. signed up for a new one so I could investigate. Zonos doesn't recognize duty free shipping at all and takes almost 50%. Meanwhile Chit Chats set up my duty free exemption within a week. An charges about $2 more than the Etsy discounted postage.  Too bad I have to ship to their hub in Vancouver but that is $7. Still way cheaper than Zonos/Canada Post. Why didn't they just partner with Chit Chats?

This with all their strikes is not going to prop them up any further.

I think the postal workers will find very little public empathy and, worse yet, very little public interest.

The only people dismayed and outraged by the proposed changes are the postal workers.

The goal of the countrywide strike, Gallant said, is to get Canadians' support for a full mandate review that's open to witnesses from the public.

Canada Post says it has sent new offers to striking postal workers.

The offer includes the same 13.59 per cent compounded wage increase over four years that it presented as part of its final offer in May to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.

It says that due to the Crown corporation’s worsening financial situation, it can no longer offer a signing bonus.

Canada Post says the new proposal includes terms to help support the transformation of the postal service that the federal government has initiated.

Denmark's postal service is dumping letter delivery. Could Canada?

Denmark's mail volume has declined 90 per cent over the past two decades
