Our team was down supporting Robin Kimpton for city council and we saw an election official chase The mayor away from standing too close to a polling booth and violating the rules LOL. Getting nervous much?

After wandering the streets for hours looking for clues I found one. An "I voted" sticker left on the sidewalk. Following these clues I managed to find an old man wearing a similar sticker. I asked him if he could help me in my quest, but he answered only in riddles. Finally I realized I had the power to vote within my self all along, and went to MJS and cast my votes.

Also about Dean being too close to polling stations, he did this during the bridge referendum, campaigning right out front. So tacky.

CTV was doing a segment on Frank Leonard as he was voting at Doncaster School in Saanich today. I don't think he was campaigning though. Isn't it usual practice to not campaign on the day of the election? Or is that just for federal?

^ Yes, this is true, he did do that during the bridge campaign. And I heard from a very trusted source that he was out doing it again today, even challenging being challenged, until he was put in his place by an elections official.
When you buy a game, you buy the rules. Play happens in the space between the rules.

Campaigning in election is not normally done. Frankly it is not a great thing to do because the public does not expect and most times, if they are on the way to the polls, their mind is made up.

All we did at Open Victoria was try and phone as many people we could and asked them in person to go and vote.

You guys did a good job out there, Bernard. It's such an uphill battle against incumbents, we really need term limits.

Baro, btw, I had a volunteer with a golf range finder checking that Dean did not campaign too close to the polling stations - though I think Dean does himself more harm than good by mainstreeting on election day.

I was happy to see what Robin Kimpton chose to do on voting day.
He is attending the C.A.R.P. conference and promoting Victoria as a retirement destination.

I agree Bernard, thanks to you and your team for working so hard to make a credible alternative.

OTOH, I disagree about term limits. I think institutional memory is really helpful; if things go poorly, vote the bums out. But if they are doing a good job, why not let them do it? Its not like there is an overabundance of quality candidates willing to stand.

I agree. With term limits, Geoff Young would have been ousted in what, 1992? Come on.
