^Try the Paris Metro where the destinations may or may not reference an actual location. George V? Quatre-Septembre?

But they have a killer app.

I saw a sign on Douglas just passed Tolmie advertising north-bound bus lanes are scheduled for completion Fall 2018. Has anyone heard of this? It seems weird those will go quicker than the south-bound ones from Tolmie to Hillside.

I saw this sign more clear as I was anticipating it today. It does say Fall 2018 is the completion date and also gives the budget of $14.2 Million. It doesn't say how far they're going but I can't see it being all the way to the Burnside bridge like originally pitched in that amount of time.

The last full day of Fall 2018 is December 20.

Place your bets.

When in James Bay earlier today, saw a sign on the bus stop next to Thrifty Foods indicating the stop will be temporarily closed starting Monday the 5th due to work being done on Niagara Street. Buses are being rerouted, see full details on the BC Transit advisory.

Why not do something useful with the centre of the circle leaf, like put a park/ride in it?

You don't mix 44's, 66's and 99's into an existing system.

You haven't really lived until you mix 66s and 99s.  And when you introduce the 44s?  BAM.  It's a real nice time, let me tell you.

And what, destroy Nagel’s unicorn breeding grounds? I think not.

Not going to be happy unicorns there given that it's the runoff collection point.

Construction for BC Transit Lane northbound from Tolmie to Burnside to begin soon...

https://news.gov.bc....TRAN0027-000335

"

The northbound Douglas Street bus lane extension from Tolmie Avenue to the Burnside Bridge is expected to be complete this fall for a total cost of $14.2 million, with the Province contributing $9.575 million and the Government of Canada providing up to $4.625 million under the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund.

The contract for this project was awarded to Jacob Bros. Construction Inc. of Surrey. During construction, the ministry will make every effort to minimize delays and maximize predictability for commuters by doing the majority of work outside of peak traffic periods."

Isn't that only about two blocks? Does it really cost $14 million to make a couple hundrend metres of bus lane?

Edit: never mind, it's to the Burnside bridge. I was thinking the intersection of Douglas and Burnside.

It's probably almost 3km with some major intersections and widening.

So let's start thinking NOW how to bridge (literally) this last bit.  I can see some creative land assembly and/or swap that could pay for it.

Can the bus go over the Goose bridge (it's <or was> strong enough for trains) and then a new lighter Goose Bridge can be implemented?

Yes, I misread that. Was thinking the Burnside-Douglas light to the Tolmie light.

Yup in Victoria we like to weave our roads so Burnside intersects with "Douglas" twice.

So I've taken the liberty of designing the new route.  The bus swings over and takes the Goose Bridge (orange).  The Goose Bridge gets a fairly light and cheap add-on on the north side of it to take Goose traffic (blue).  And Colquitz school and lower Burnside gets a dedicated bus stop.

Who do I send my design bill to?

Three times, if we count Douglas and TCH as one.

I prefer they just build a ramp like in Speed and the bus makes the jump.

Seriously though, the Goose trestle wouldn't help a southbound bus.
