*14 minutes. Arrives at Uptown at 5:36 am, then at the Leg at 5:50 am.

I guess getting up too early messes up your brain for the whole day doesn't it...

6:15 is certainly not set in stone. The actual times will be verified closer to the release of the fall schedule. The 5AM departure may also end up being 4:59 or 5:03, etc.

Trudeau and Horgan will be making an announcement tomorrow at 4:30 relating to BC Transit https://www.cheknews...-horgan-585976/. Any guesses on what? Unless it's just funding I can't think of much infrastructure they could do at this point that would involve the Federal government.

Sounds like a CNG bus was brought in from Nanaimo, and word on the street is an electric bus is expected to arrive at the yard in time for the presser.

Probably some partnership funding commitment to fully switch the fleet to electric buses by 2025.

Taken from the minutes of the June 13/06 transit commission meeting in reagrds to 2007 expansion;

If the service expansion option is implemented in September 2007, the next
significant steps will be taken towards the Bus Rapid Transit network outlined in
the Rapid Transit Network Development Plan presented to the Commission in
June 2005.
The expansion plan for 2007 would also include increases in the Western
Communities and on a number of the busiest routes serving the major activity
centres in the region.
The Rapid Bus plan would include the following:
• Limited stop service between Downtown and Langford terminus during
weekday peak hours (approximately 630 AM to 830 AM and from 3 PM to
530 PM). Buses would stop at all stops downtown then only at limited stops
until reaching the Langford terminus.
• 5 minute peak direction frequency and 10 minute off-peak direction
frequency between Langford terminus and downtown Victoria and 15
minute off-peak frequency in both directions.
• New community bus service providing local coverage in Langford and
Colwood replacing the 50 Goldstream service (which would now stop only
at limited stops).
• Significant increases in local community bus services to connect with the
expanded Rapid Bus service. Buses would serve the primary Colwood and
Langford neighbourhoods every 15 minutes (now generally 30 minutes or
less) and 30 minute service would be provided to the rural community of
Metchosin. Service now provided irregularly to Triangle Mountain, Selwyn
and Langford Meadows would be increased to every 30 minutes.
Other service increases anticipated in the region under Expansion funding include:
• A general service increase allowance of 1% to address traffic congestion or
capacity issues including close monitoring of service to major employment
and travel nodes such as Keating, CFB Esquimalt, UVIC, and Swartz Bay.
• Route extension of the northern portion of the 24/25 to provide better
connections to future McKenzie Express buses and to regional and local
growth centers in the Quadra/McKenzie and University Heights areas.

I was curious in what people were talking about when the thread opened up and it's kinda sad how 13 years later none of this stuff has been implemented yet (unless the 25/25 used to stop somewhere else?). I really don't see what the issue with starting that rapid transit route from Langford is. I get wanting bus lanes but at least northbound they aren't going to get much better than they currently are and there hasn't even been an attempt at a 50x (and they stopped the 61x) to see how it would work out.

Feds handing down $31 million for 118 new buses, including 10 long-range electric buses (for use in Victoria), for Victoria and other BC Transit jurisdictions.

This is in addition to 106 new buses announced last November.

Was it mentioned if they already gave the money or if this is "if we get elected"?

Yet my union is three years without a contract or raise.

By the Prime Minister?

Sure. Here's last year in Vancouver: https://www.cbc.ca/n...jects-1.4809939

And 2016, also in BC: https://www.theglobe...rticle30489443/

Many transit announcement funding announcements to be found in 2017 too, although in other provinces.

Does anyone honestly believe the PM's announcement wasn't 99% about the election and 1% about transportation funding?

Is that not what the majority of stuff that he (or any PM/Premiere/Mayor/Whatever) makes a physical appearance at for? Even if he made this exact same announcement in 2017 in the exact same way it would still be trying to get people here to relate Trudeau with helping us out so next election we may remember how he gave us a bunch of money to help transit and vote for him. If he just wanted to fund transit he could have just sent the money and made a press release or let BC Transit just announce it.
