On a serious note, COVID-19 shows us one more reason why should have something like the compass card system in place for all of BC Transit, it should not be hard to just tack onto the existing system Translink is using. The compass card allows for people to enter by any door

transit drivers getting covid-19 from passengers is an overblown worry.
i predict a bonanza for elevator manufacturers. buy shares now. there will be lots of demand to install touch-less buttons on floor stations and on the cars. wave your hand near the sensor, the floor indicator lights up.

no it think the sensors will be one for each floor they will have to be spaced out a bit more than today's typical keyboard for large (many floor) buildings. or they are just like today's buttons and you can press them or just get 2cm away and the little laser hits you and it detects your finger temperature.

I can see it now. Instead of the classic push every button prank, just takes one swift wave across the layout.
Vocal commands, that's what you need.

it can counter that prank. like your phone keyboard is forgiving on errors.

And paying for them from reduced Sunday parking revenues. It's a win-win for the CoV taxpayer!

Don't worry, they will make up the difference with an increased tax bill next year.

But how do we keep two metres away from each other in buses and elevators?

Are you installing these in your new airline company as well?

how did social distancing creep from 1m to 2m in just 10 days? if it's exponential it's going to be 100m by the end of the month.

I stick to 8 myself. Is that not the rule?
i've certainly decreased my following of the vehicle in front of me from the 2-second rule to the 11-second. so any virus spewing out of his vehicle hits the ground then i run it over and kill it. the virus may last 4 hours on copper but it only survives 3 nanoseconds when placed between my rubber tires and the cold asphalt and pressed. all hands on deck.

Actually...
What does Social Distancing mean?
This means making changes in your everyday routines in order to minimize close contact with others, including:
- avoiding crowded places and non-essential gatherings
- avoiding common greetings, such as handshakes
- limiting contact with people at higher risk (e.g. older adults and those in poor health)
- keeping a distance of at least 2 arms lengths (approximately 2 metres) from others, as much as possible
