Here is the CFAX story on his re-election

Oct 4, 2011

Saanich councilor Vic Derman has announced his bid for re-election in the November civic elections.

Derman, who identifies himself as someone who's "willing to ask tough questions", has been a vocal critic of the region's sewage treatment plan...

"I think when you're spending close to a billion dollars, and possibly more, that you have to be absolutely sure that the tax payer(s) are getting value for money... I hope to meet with provincial and federal politicians in the near future, including the Premier, and ask them to reconsider... I think it's a project that costs a huge amount and accomplishes very little."

Seeking a fourth term as councillor, Derman says transportation issues are one of his central interests.

Derman was speaking with CFAX 1070's Ryan Price this afternoon.

I will be supporting Vic Derman for a number of reasons, one of which is his position on the sewage treatment "planning".

This goes right to the heart of our taxes. Sewage treatment has the potential to cost every home owner anywhere from $200 - $800 per year. This kind of potential tax levy needs heavy hitters at the table asking the tough questions on our behalf. Whatever the final need is deemed to be, it can only be determined if the right questions are being asked.

Vic Derman is willing to ask those questions. That's the kind of representation I want.
