Too bad you couldn't get further away by a few more blocks, or adjust the camera angle more to reduce that narrow gap between the foreground buildings to a bare sliver.

One minute kids are ranting and raving that taller buildings are destroying Victoria, the next they're complaining other buildings are obscuring the view of taller buildings.
Know it all.

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining. I'm just saying it would be preferable if the subject of the picture was actually visible in the picture.

Light on top of the crane has been flickering for the last couple of days and is now out. Hopefully they can get it fixed soon.
There seems to be no shortage of folks to climb up there to screw in a new bulb, as long as the fire department isn't called to get them down.

Here's my VERY crude augmentation of Mike's photo.
Hopefully, this will calm the nerves of the naysayers.

It seems to be taking forever to get the 1515 building out of the ground.

If there is one statement that tilts me over the edge, and I have been hearing it for decades, it is that tall buildings are "ruining" Victoria. I am in my sixth decade as a Victoria born citizen and have indured this seemingly hate on for "modern" architecture that still carries on to this day. I can appreciate the want to not have any change and keep the "character" of the city the same. But, I don't think that is realistic, as it is like wishing your puppy or kitten will never grow up. I'm sure the people that lived in Victoria when there were no cars and wooden sidewalks would have loved to not have the "character" changed by cars and pavement. We cannot bind feet, or stop the river from flowing. If the water does not flow through the lake it will die and become a stagnant swamp. We cannot stop the natural growth of the city and not expect it not to become stagnant. For me, I have never felt the city to be so alive, the whole of the Greater Victoria to be alive and Vibrant. Victoria is the capital because it was the most vibrant city in BC at the time of decision. I want growth, development and vision. Why cannot greater Victoria be home to a Canadian Football team with a state of the art 40,000 seat stadium in the west shore. When can we have an art museum of world quality housing and celebrating our heritage, right downtown. I embrace the new tall building with pride and see them as the natural development of a world class city. I hoe only that the city insist on and insure the highest quality of our new buildings. Light rail from the western communities is a must in the future and should be started now. I think it should follow the number one highway into Vicroria and continue down Douglas, to start, with high density development along its route. From Douglas and Sannnich into downtown should be high density development.
OK, all for now, just my opinion from Hong Kong.
PS, in fourteen hours Il'll be back in little old Victoria ...

Only 4 more floors left on the tower. Will be interesting to see this topped out.

I expected this to be substantially taller than Corazon, First Financial and Juliet. I guess I was mistaken.
Downtown Victoria: where nothing is substantially taller than anything else.

Tall is good.

They're literally neck-to-neck right now as far as the actual roofs (minus mechanical) of both FIF and Corazon and 750 Pandora's ninth floor roof. Once all the dust settles 780 will be about 17 meters taller than Corazon, which equals to an 18-storey Corazon.
Know it all.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have a rendering for the condos that were originally proposed for this site? I think the development was called *Centro*.
