The crane might be perfectly fine. The operator might just be tired or stressed. You won't know for sure unless you refrain from all construction activity for 3-6 months. And that includes looking at pictures of construction sites.

Is it possible though, that the crane operator (due to their position up there looking over the city, and at many, many attractive construction sites) is thinking of other, perhaps (in their wandering mind at least) more exciting sites often, so then when it comes to erecting on their own site, the drive is not there?

Well, they appear to be back at it. Must have taken some sort of a pill. Or a nap.

Working the same construction site can get boring, for sure. Why not try relocating the crane to the other side of the site? Or maybe spice things up a bit by changing the colour of the hoarding.

Mods, I'm not entirely comfortable with jonny's double entendre. This is supposed to be a family board.

Using more cladding and insulation as as they go up.

It's important when erecting to always clad things properly. One doesn't want any little accidents.

Wandered by last night, it was pretty cold out. Didn't see any crane, maybe the cold caused it to shrink a little?

Matt.

A few pics taken a couple days ago from the top of City Hall clock tower

In the photo of the excavation in the crosswalk the pile of wood is railroad ties. there are many miles of railroad track and ties still under the asphalt through out Victoria and Oak Bay and Esquimalt. When the street cars were finished the track was left in place and just covered.

You can just start to see the beginning of the circular rotunda taking shape in the Douglas building. Although not visible in the above photos, supports for the 12th floor deck are starting to go up in the Pandora building and cladding is covering about 25% of the eastern facade.

Three more floors. Probably two or three weeks the way things have been going for.

I'd say more like 4-6 weeks. It's been closer to 2 weeks for each new floor on the Pandora tower to emerge. Additional floors really slowed there as well since the Douglas "tower" started to emerge from the ground. The taller building has sat at 10 "completed" floors for over a month now. It wasn't until yesterday that I finally noticed the first support structures for the 12th floor deck going up.

I would say even longer.  It's been at least 3 weeks a floor and there was a huge delay/slowdown over XMAS and the wind storm so if there's bad weather it could be longer.  There's probably also the mechanical level to pour no?

Here are some photos of construction from this week.

Things are coming together at a good pace.
