Took another look at the permit description, it says its for a 3,500 sq.ft. office space. How big is their space on Tyee?

A little birdie told me Coast Capital is taking on office space at Selkirk Waterfront.

I seem to recall they used to have office space in the building across Cormorant from there.

Yup a remnant from its pre-CCS, Pacific Coast Credit Union days; and NParker no its highly unlikely a branch will materialize in HP2 as there is already a branch in the Bay Centre; there used to be a rule of thumb, at least when I was there, that "x" minimum distance was a prerequisite between branches. That and population density and the location of competitors all factored into new branch placement.

I know it's a pipe dream. My other wish would be for a small branch at the St. Andrew's school/ BlueSky development. I think CCS is playing some part in the financing of that project.

Not sure if this has been publicized before, but a new cafe is going in to 710 Pandora. Here is a write-up about the new Sherwood Cafe & Bar: http://scoutmagazine...pe-in-victoria/

Fantastic. I was unsure if it was another Habit or not. It seemed odd to open another location so close to the Atrium, so I'm happy to see this is something different. And OPEN TO MIDNIGHT!! I stop at Habit almost every time I go downtown so I'm excited to check the place out when it opens. Which portion is 710 Pandora, specifically? Is that the western-most space on Pandora (Pandora and Douglas)?

Yes, it looks like they're on the corner based on Instagram posts. Via https://www.instagra...rwood.victoria/

I noticed today as I was waiting to cross Douglas on the north side of Pandora that what I thought from the renderings was going to be strictly a water feature at this corner

1515 fountain.JPG

now appears to be more of a sculpture made out of corten metal like the "800" at the Atrium Building. Perhaps water will still be a part of the finished product, but it doesn't look anything like the above rendering.

Why do we as a society seem to be incapable of making beautiful public art anymore

Was there a time when everyone agreed that all of the public art being created was beautiful? Give the partially completed fountain a chance, at least until we have the landscaping, pavement design, lighting, cafe seating, and a finished building behind it.

Beauty - especially in regards to art - is highly subjective.

I think it looks great, so far. There have been a few awful pieces around town though, the "sculpture" at SOFA for example.

I hesitate to call it ugly, although I am sure many people feel it is. The biggest problem I have with that sculpture is its scale. It is way too small for the space it occupies.

Something more in keeping with the scale of plaza would have been more effective IMHO.

And that's all I am going to say as I don't want to drag this thread further off topic.

Not sure if a bit of landscaping would do it. This is more what i am referring to
