Time to stop bringing in the union aspect to it... They may have helped fund campaigns but they don't do much to get out the vote. Honestly, they don't.. It's not the 1980's anymore.

The vast majority of voters have no idea who to vote for. When their employer or union endorses a candidate, they have little reason to vote for anyone else unless they spend the time necessary to learn more about all candidates than a tag line printed in the TC.

Yeah, I'm a small business owner not a union person and I'm Dean and Pam and Ben all the way. Way to go Victoria!

Saanich News
Final numbers show Frank Leonard with 10,242 and David Cubberley with 9,071. This is unofficial but we'll confirm ASAP.

I can tell you that 700 members of a CRD area union was not told of what candidates their union endorsed, if any at all.

I would say he who has the biggest or most memorable sign wins. Isitt? Yikes.

Wow, who would have guessed that Helps would collect the third most number of votes for Victoria council?

Luton, Lucas, Hunter out according to C-FAX. I'm surprised Alto is polling so high.

Their data is being collected straight from individual municipalities.

15 out of 15 polls reporting in Victoria now, so these are the unofficial results until certified.

Three incumbent councillors being bumped out? Is this unprecedented in Greater Victoria?

CFAX is reporting that Isitt wants to rename Victoria and redraw the boundaries of the city? What's that all about?

Voted in Vic West today - was surprised and happy that I had to wait for a polling booth to be available. Good to see the turnaround - weather might have helped a bit. Then had to make sure that I didn't go over 8 on the number of counsellors.

Uh oh. Could this be what happens when you vote for someone because they have a bright orange sign without actually knowing their political platform?
