It got to the point traffic was so bad some people actually parked as far away as Cedar Hill X Rd or half way down Union to Quadra St, then walked back up to Tattersall. If you did manage to make to the displays in your horseless wagon you could expect to spend an hour++ in what was normally a stretch of road that took about 30 seconds to navigate in and out. We are talking about literally thousands of onlookers each night during the height of Christmas so it would certainly have felt like living in a fish bowl to residents.

I miss Candy Cane Lane at this time of year, every year. As it further recedes into the past you realize how unique and one of a kind, probably never to be duplicated, that experience really was. Awesome for the drive by viewers, not so great for the neighbors after 20 years of course, one major reason it finally ended....
In any event we have found the area off "five corners" at Interurban and Wilkinson headed generally toward Royal Oak past Layritz up to and along Mann Rd year in and year out is outstanding if you want to literally see house after house, street after street lit right up with some spectacular light displays. Glynn and Alan roads in particular are mesmerizing.
My daughter and I spent a day hauling out the lights, displays, extensions etc putting up the lights at our place and that pales into nothing compared to the effort those folks put into those neighborhoods. Definitely worth a look.
Years ago I ran out of gas Christmas Eve on candy cane lane . I was pushed off to the side .What a Christmas nightmare when I finally got 5 dollars worth of gas . Try stopping traffic to get out before my 5 dollars was gone and get to a gas station . It was a long night with small ones in the car .

There's a crazy lights etc. display at the corner of Ripon Road and Beach Drive, just across from the yacht club.

A tip of the toque to the de Pol family on Wallace Drive for their annual escapades of Santa aiming for their chimney. Each year they plan out a story that changes daily on how Santa progresses. Some years it's a slingshot, others might be a cannon.
This year he plans on propelling himself on a skateboard towards his goal. He has already crashed and burned on the ramp a few days ago but it looks like he is about to drop in again.
I will try and get a night shot with the lights. If you are headed to Butchart's take Wallace just past the Red Barn and slow down when you go past Willis Point Road.
Enjoy
