Cool, thanks for pointing that out Lanforod!

So, for all you astronomers out there, yes this is Orion (The Hunter).  You will most likely have to click through to flickr and view the original to see some of the faint stars that I connected, but they're there.  Also, the star Rigel is just hidden by Promontory but I drew lines where it would be.  I also circled the Orion Nebula (M42) and linked to a photo from EarthSky.org that shows the three stars of Orion's Belt at the top and the M42 nebula at the bottom.  I included the original pic for comparison.  Pretty amazing.  :)

Fantastic to see progress like that.

I noticed a crane lifting things onto either the penthouse floor or the roof. Anyone know what was up?

Just more heavy material for the contractors working on the penthouse.

The Big P. has been quite a beacon lately with all of the lights being on in the penthouse all night. What's up? can the owner not find the light switch in such a big place?

He's had one since day #1. He's been a licensed pilot (of real planes) for over a decade.

What does a licensed pilot have to do with a drone license?

He has never had any restriction on when, where and how high he flies it.  He files a flight plan with the authorities (for the drone) by e-mail, and off he goes.

New legislation might change that soon, but for now, he's "more licensed" than most operators.  He has a Special Flight Operations Certificate.

ie. he meets this criteria due to his training:

Question 2:

What training is required to fly a UAV under the exemptions?

Answer:

Each exemption contains different training requirements. For example, to fly a UAV that weighs between 2.1 kg and 25 kg UAV without permission, the operator must be trained to understand:

  • airspace classification and structure

  • weather and notice to airmen (NOTAM) reporting services

  • aeronautical charts and the Canada Flight Supplement

  • relevant sections of the Canadian Aviation Regulations.

NOTAM seems pretty 1950's sexist. Time for an update there NavCan.

Just more more glass (or other large stuff) for the penthouse. The crane operator has been kept very busy with all the lifts there.

The trades have been saying that they're just doing finishing touches and the owner will be moving in soon (for the past three months)

Hi all,

Long time listener, first time caller.

The ground level townhouse has me interested in the building - I see two are for sale. Anyone been inside or have any thoughts on them? I'm more of a townhouse person than a suite or condo person.

Thanks,

Brent

Welcome, Brent.

Are the two units for sale brand new, or previously owned?

Yes, one of the three new townhomes has finally sold and the owners have moved in.  My understanding is there are now offers on the remaining two - suddenly everyone wants a townhome.  One of those remaining townhomes is a furnished show suite so you should come over and take a look at it.  Promontory now lists only 7 units remaining, 5 of which must be in the tower.
