Given that they are not yet fully out of the ground, very unlikely that they would be complete by year-end 2018. Late spring 2019 more likely.

It won't be too long until the B&W building starts to resemble the illustrations we've seen. Will the penthouse suites be able to get ocean views?

Probably not the ones facing north.

You certainly know where the oceans are

Can someone shed some light on the function of what appear to be I-beams in this project? Are they part of the elevator/services core?

When I look at Marko's shots, it makes me realize how much the quality of life would be improved there, if they buried the power wires and got rid of those poles.

Some very nice images Marko. The build has picked up some speed for sure.
Perhaps those I-beams have something to do with the transfer of load mid building to the inner elevator shafts that are concrete/steel. Just a guess.

I see forming supports for the first floor, unless I am missing something. They need to support the floor until it sets up.

The vertical steel H beams are part of the elevator shaft.

The vertical steel H beams are part of the elevator shaft.
That's what I assumed. It's a bit of a different technique than what we usually see in low rise projects around here.

How else would they effectively handle the elevator loads (and guideway anchoring and alignment) on a wood frame building? They could build a concrete elevator shaft, but that would seem to get away from some of the costs advantages of framing beyond the first floor.
Perhaps there is an engineer lurking who can chime in.

It seems like Bluesky (on Pandora) is going with concrete elevator shafts; a similarly constructed project.

Very nice pictures of the B&W site. It so nice to see trees already in blossom!

There are rumours that Wet Cleaner may move its operations to one of the commercial units here. Their existing building immediately south is certainly ripe for redevelopment following last year's fire (the upper floors remain unoccupied).

That building is getting fully renovated, won't be torn down any time soon.
