Thanks for the pictures shoeflack!  I dunno, from that last picture, at least to me it definitely looks too small of a lane to not hit the curb when going straight or turning.

I walked by here last night and the curb lines up pretty well with the curb to the north on the other side of Fort St.  These lanes have always been a bit tight so don't think it has changed much if any.  I also noticed that the center line as you approach the intersection from the south actual splits and there is a small painted median between the north and south bound lanes on the south side of Fort.  The City could borrow some of this space to shift the two north bound lanes a smidge to the West to make them wider if they wanted to.

This would create a slight jog in the alignment of the intersection but nowhere near as bad as Fort and Foul Bay for instance.  Besides, then the intersection would be Akimbo just like the building!

Like I said, they have built out the sidewalk to what previously existed. So the only thing different about the through lanes now than before construction will be some new pavement. Looks can certainly be deceiving.

It's getting very, very close. Within a month I'd say.

Know it all.

Have any commercial tenants been announced?

A 60-seat cafe named Bear & Joey, a dentist office and a wellness clinic are confirmed tenants at Black & White.

How could I have forgotten a restaurant that specializes in ursine and marsupial fare?

Most vets now offer canned kangaroo as an alternative food for dogs and cats, given the increasing incidence of pet allergies. My cat eats rabbit-based food because of allergies developed as a result of eating farmed salmon.

It may be an opportunity to sample in advance. LOL

I'll have to see if my vet recommends I switch to  kangaroo before my first visit to Bear & Joey.

Based on the following:

...Bear & Joey’s menu is inspired by café experiences found in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, and will offer a range of nutritious offerings, with an emphasis on gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options...

I suspect my visits will be few and far between. I am just not that woke.

So basically three years from start of construction to finish.

december 2011

This could be Fairfield's largest redevelopment in recent history.

Basically, the entire half-block of Cook Street between Meares and Fort. It will involve the demolition of the Fort Building, a one-storey, mid-century commercial strip housing Kilshaw's auction house, Sorenson's Books, Tooks on Cook, the former B&E grocery, Polychrome Gallery and a few other stores.

Abstract Developments wants to replace it with some sort of condo development. There will be a public meeting this coming Monday evening in Fairfield as it requires rezoning. I expect a fairly dense development, five or six storeys.

That's all I know.

^ or 8 years from concept is another way to look at it.  8 years for a silly little building on a boring non-descript city block.
