I guess that puts the HAM theory to rest...
Look at the jump in lower mainland buyers; I think there is a bit of an affect of HAM driving prices up in Vancouver and those individuals unloading and moving to Victoria.
Sell gramas’ house for $2.4 - http://thekavanaghgr...w-in-va-4192444
Move to Oak Bay, buy a home for $1.4 and retire.

You think so? I get that many people there have incurred losses, but I think for Albertans who want to get out of prairie weather and a bad economy, Victoria is not a bad choice. It may be considered a more affordable choice than Vancouver. I suspect a lot of those are retirees.

How is nationality determined for this data? I assume it is where you are actually moving from and not just passport?

Not up hugely in percentage terms, but a bit.
The surge in activity this year is mostly due to locals still although it will be interesting if the lower mainland component increases this year http://househuntvict...ot-local-money/

I wonder if some people took early retirement once the job losses started.

wow….highest monthly sales since 2002; lowest new listings since 2005. These are some insane numbers. To put things into perspective we had 294 sales January 2013.

Any way you look at it getting that listing is as good as gold.

Thanks for the link ...
We are looking at listing our home located up by Claremont school in a couple of weeks.
Does anyone know if this is an area where people coming here are looking ... our house was custom built in 2008 and is very teen friendly.
