yep. I don't think there is capacity to ship crude out of there though. but perhaps the route can be used for a part of it, and then split off to somewhere else.

That’s where crude is currently shipped from, so likely they’ll have to expand the terminal if they want to run more pipe.

They have to dredge the harbour so the larger ships can go out fully loaded, they can only take partial loads now.

Burnaby is the coast!

North coast saves two days shipping time to Asia, that's a pretty big advantage.

Can we just give every orca $1m in reparations in advance and lift the tanker ban? /s

American tankers are going up and down the north coast all the time.

Indeed, Rupert would be the most logical choice from an efficiency standard. And yes, the Americans do not care about Canada’s self-imposed tanker ban.

A landmark agreement to export liquified natural gas from northern British Columbia to Germany is expected to be announced later this week by the federal government, according to B.C. Energy Minister Adrian Dix.

Dix stopped short of confirming the parties involved, but according to sources, the large-scale deal is between Ksi Lisims LNG in British Columbia and a German company.

"Ksi Lisims has been obviously working to build markets around the world so this is their announcement," said Dix.

How are we transiting to get the LNG to Germany? If the NW passage was open year round it would work easily enough I guess.

If Trudeau hadn't been such an idiot and saying that there is no business case to ship LNG to Europe we could have been pulling in billions from the east coast by now.

Exact same people in power now as then. Trudeau was just the figurehead. I don’t understand what ultimately changed that everything we stood for doesn’t matter, today, and we have the author of Value(s) now as the figurehead. He was also the former guy’s advisor.

German utility to buy one million tonnes of LNG per year from Ksi Lisims project

VANCOUVER — A German utility has signed a long-term agreement to buy one million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year from the yet-to-be-built Ksi Lisims project in northern British Columbia as European countries look to lock down reliable fuel

Yet four years ago there was no business case for it. There were three proposed LNG facilities on the east coast that the Liberals wouldn't green light, insanity.

Apparently the ships will have to travel some of the longest routes on earth to deliver this gas.

2025 was the year we were supposed to have started shipping hydrogen to Germany. No terminals have been built for that plan, yet.
